Youth2Seniors was founded in 2011. As we visited one of the first assisted living facilities we provide programs in (The Pavilion at Great Hills) we came up with a concept of throwing a fun event for all generations in an assisted living facility.
After several conversations with the Youth2Seniors board and the activity director we decided to hold an event that would have activities for all ages and combine fun, learning, giving and fundraising.
Each year our activities have change a little bit - but we continue to maintain the balance of having activities focused around 3 areas:
Intergenerational programs are designed to bring together our generations in a fun and rewarding way where people can learn from each other without the boundaries of age! After reading about Intergeneration Month (link below), Youth2Seniors decided to support this movement by hosting our signature event 'Intergenerational Day' eachyear. It provides the opportunity for people of all ages within the community to work together, learn from one another and connect with each other!
The Intergeneration Month website has some great resources for people looking to build intergenerational relationships. The link below talks about their national movement to recognize Intergenerational Month in September. They also offer a unique storytelling contest that is open to everyone!
2018;s Intergenerational Day is all about connecting and giving back together!! This year all activities will focus on benefiting a group in the Austin area! Join us and participate in 7 different on-the-spot volunteer projects!
GIVING: projects include: bear building, decorating placemats, making bags for the homeless, painting a bowl for Austin's hungry, paint a kindness rock, kick start some acts of random kindness and support Youth2Seniors by purchasing an item in the auction.
GIVE AWAYS: Each hour we are giving away different give-aways to show our volunteers how much we appreciate their help!
